Booking Privacy and Cookie Notice
This notice explains what information CuppaPug collects when you use our booking site at book.cuppapug.com, which cookies and similar technologies it uses, and the choices you have. It sits alongside our general CuppaPug Privacy Policy, which covers the rest of CuppaPug. If you joined one of our waiting lists or priority lists, our Waiting Lists Privacy Notice explains how we look after those details.
The short version
- Analytics and marketing tools only run if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time.
- If you allow marketing, we share what you do on this site with Meta so we can measure our Facebook and Instagram ads. We never send your name, email address, phone number or payment details to Meta from this site.
- Your booking and payment are handled by our ticketing partner, Beyonk.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
Your choices on this device: Analytics off, Marketing off.
Who we are
CuppaPug is a trading name of Pugs Cafe Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England & Wales (company number 13447557), registered office 187 Nursery Road, Bohemia Place, London, England, E9 6PB. We are the data controller for the information described in this notice. For any privacy question or request, email bookings@cuppapug.com.
What we collect and why
Every visit
- The technical details every browser sends to load a web page: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for and the time. Our host and the services that deliver our images, videos, fonts and reviews see these so they can send you the page.
- A security check from Cloudflare Turnstile before the booking form loads, to stop bots and abuse.
- Your cookie choices, saved on your device.
Why: to run the site, keep it secure and remember your choices. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a safe, working website. These are strictly necessary, so the cookie rules don’t require your consent for them.
When you book
The booking and gift card forms belong to Beyonk, our ticketing partner. They load inside our page in Beyonk’s own secure frame, and you pay on Beyonk’s checkout at checkout.beyonk.com. In the form you give your name, email address, phone number, tickets, date and time, and any other details the form asks for. Beyonk shares your booking details with us so we can run your visit, contact you about it and handle changes or refunds. We never see your full card details.
Why: to take and manage your booking. Lawful basis: to perform our contract with you, and to meet our legal duties, such as keeping tax and accounting records. Beyonk also uses this information under its own privacy policy. A small number of US events sell tickets through Good Tickets instead, a booking system built and run for us by Good Thinking, our technology partner. It handles your booking on our behalf and only as we instruct.
Alumni Pugs Day Care (Texas)
If you book day care for an alumni pug, we collect your name, email address, your pug’s name and the dates you choose. We give you a booking reference so you can look up, move or cancel your booking. Lawful basis: to perform our contract with you.
Gaston, our chat assistant
If you open Gaston, what you type is sent to Good Thinking, our technology partner, which built and runs Gaston for us, so it can answer. Good Thinking only uses it to run the chat for us. Please don’t share sensitive personal information in the chat. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in answering your questions quickly.
Analytics (only if you allow it)
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 and PostHog to see how people use the booking site. They record:
- the pages, locations and experiences you view;
- the tickets, add-ons and information panels you open, and buttons such as “Book Now”;
- whether you reach the booking form, and how long each step takes;
- how you arrived: the site that sent you, campaign tags (such as utm_source) and ad click IDs (such as gclid or fbclid);
- device details: device type, screen size, time zone, language, number of processor cores, approximate device memory and a short browser signature;
- a random ID for your browser tab;
- booking steps passed on by Beyonk’s form, such as starting checkout and completing a purchase, with the ticket type and price.
Google Analytics is set to anonymise IP addresses. PostHog stores our data on EU servers, keeps its visitor ID in your browser tab only, and is set not to capture clicks or typing automatically. Neither tool can see what you type into the Beyonk form. Lawful basis: your consent.
Marketing (only if you allow it)
With your consent we send information about your visit to Meta, which runs Facebook and Instagram. The next section explains exactly what. Lawful basis: your consent.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
If you turn on Marketing, we use two Meta tools:
- Meta Pixel: a script from Meta that runs in your browser. It sets the _fbp and _fbc cookies and sends events to Meta.
- Meta Conversions API: our own server sends a copy of the same events straight to Meta, so our ads can still be measured if a browser blocks the Pixel. Meta matches the two copies so each event only counts once.
The events we send:
- page views;
- viewing a ticket, add-on or the gift card section;
- tapping “Select tickets” on a ticket;
- reaching the booking or gift card form;
- choosing a location or experience;
- from Beyonk’s booking form: choosing a date and time, starting checkout, adding payment details and completing a purchase, with the ticket type, price and currency.
What else our server’s copy includes: your IP address, your browser’s user agent (its name and version), the _fbp and _fbc values or the Facebook click ID from the link you arrived on, and a scrambled (SHA-256 hashed) version of your random tab ID.
What we don’t send: your name, email address, phone number or payment details. None of these are sent to Meta from this site.
Why: to see which ads lead to bookings, and to show our ads to people who have visited us and to people with similar interests. Meta may link this information to your Facebook or Instagram account if you have one, and uses it under its own privacy policy. For collecting and sending this data, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited are joint controllers. Once Meta receives it, Meta is responsible for how it uses it.
Beyonk also sends booking data to Meta for us. On Beyonk’s checkout pages, a Meta Pixel set up for CuppaPug records booking steps, and Beyonk’s servers send booking events to Meta’s Conversions API. These can include your contact details, such as your email address and phone number, in scrambled (hashed) form so Meta can match a booking to an ad. This happens on Beyonk’s pages and follows Beyonk’s cookie settings, not the choices you make on this site.
To stop it: turn Marketing off in . This stops new Pixel and server events from this site. To remove Meta cookies already set, clear your browser’s cookies for book.cuppapug.com. You can also manage ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. “Local storage” and “session storage” do a similar job: local storage stays until it expires or you clear it, and session storage is deleted when you close the tab. Here is everything the booking site uses.
Necessary (always on)
Needed for the booking site to work and stay secure, so they run without asking.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cp_cookie_consent_v1 | CuppaPug | Remembers your cookie choices so we don’t ask on every page. | Local storage | 180 days, then we ask again |
cart | Beyonk | Remembers your basket so the booking form’s “View cart” button works. | Session storage | Until you close the tab |
| Turnstile security check | Cloudflare | Checks you’re a real visitor, not a bot, before the booking form loads. | Inside Cloudflare’s check | Set by provider |
| Booking form and checkout | Beyonk | Runs the booking form, basket and payment. | Inside Beyonk’s form and on checkout.beyonk.com | Set by provider (see Beyonk’s cookie policy) |
Created on your visit, only shared if you allow it
These stay in your browser tab. Our analytics and marketing tools only read them if you turn those on.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cp_sid | CuppaPug | A random ID for this browser tab, so the steps of one visit can be grouped together. | Session storage | Until you close the tab |
cp_tracking_params | CuppaPug | Remembers campaign tags (such as utm_source) and ad click IDs (such as gclid or fbclid) from the link you arrived on. | Session storage | Until you close the tab |
_byk_utm_data | Beyonk | Remembers campaign tags from the link you arrived on and passes them to the booking form, so Beyonk can show us which campaigns lead to bookings. | Session storage | Until you close the tab |
Analytics (only if you allow it)
Google Analytics and PostHog show us how the booking site is used, so we can fix what’s confusing.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells one visitor apart from another in Google Analytics. | Cookie | 2 years | |
_ga_<ID> | Keeps track of your current visit in Google Analytics. | Cookie | 2 years | |
ph_<project key>_posthog | PostHog | A random visitor and session ID for PostHog, plus a few related ph_ items that track the current tab. | Session storage | Until you close the tab |
__ph_opt_in_out_<project key> | PostHog | Records whether PostHog analytics is switched on or off for you. | Local storage | Until you clear your browser’s site data |
Marketing (only if you allow it)
Meta (Facebook and Instagram) tools that measure our ads and help us show them to the right people.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_fbp | Meta | Identifies your browser to Meta so visits and bookings can be linked to our ads. | Cookie | 90 days |
_fbc | Meta | Stores the Facebook click ID when you arrive from one of our ads. | Cookie | 90 days |
| Meta’s own cookies (such as fr) | Meta | If your browser allows it, the Meta Pixel can also read cookies Meta set on its own sites, for example if you’re logged in to Facebook or Instagram. | Third-party cookie | Set by provider |
Only if you open Gaston
Gaston, our chat assistant, loads in its own window inside our page.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gaston chat | Good Thinking (chat.goodthinking.solutions) | Runs the chat and keeps your conversation going while it’s open. | Inside the chat window | Set by provider |
Some items are named by the provider and can change. Where we can’t confirm a duration ourselves, we say “set by provider”. Images, videos and fonts on this site come from Wix and Google Fonts; we don’t use them to track you.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of providers to run the booking site. Beyonk and Meta also use some information for their own purposes, under their own policies. The others act on our instructions.
- Beyonk (Beyonk Ltd, UK): booking forms, checkout and payments. Beyonk’s privacy policy
- Meta: advertising measurement, only if you allow marketing. Meta’s privacy policy
- Google: Google Analytics, only if you allow analytics; Google Fonts for our icons and lettering on every visit. Google’s privacy policy
- PostHog: analytics on EU servers, only if you allow analytics. PostHog’s privacy policy
- Cloudflare: the security check before the booking form, and delivering the reviews and photos on our pages. Cloudflare’s privacy policy
- Railway: hosts this site and our server.
- Wix: stores the images and videos we show.
- Good Thinking (goodthinking.solutions): our technology partner, which runs Gaston (only if you open it) and Good Tickets bookings for some US events.
We don’t sell your personal information. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our guests, pugs or business.
International transfers
Some of these providers, including Google, Meta, Cloudflare, Railway and Wix, may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK-US Data Bridge for certified companies) or by approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses. PostHog stores our analytics data in the EU.
How long we keep it
- Cookie choices: 180 days, then we ask again.
- Tab ID, campaign tags and PostHog’s visitor ID: deleted when you close the tab.
- Analytics data: no longer than 14 months in Google Analytics, and in PostHog only as long as we need it to improve the booking site.
- Data sent to Meta: kept by Meta under its own policy.
- Booking records (including Alumni Pugs Day Care): as long as we need them to run your booking and answer questions about it, then up to 6 years after your visit for tax and accounting.
- Server and security logs: short periods set by Railway and Cloudflare.
Your choices and rights
Change your cookie choices at any time with the button, or the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every booking page. Withdrawing consent stops new data being collected from that point on.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.
To use any of these rights, email bookings@cuppapug.com. We’ll reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Depending on where you live, local law may give you extra rights. For example, California residents can ask to know, correct or delete their information, and can opt out of it being shared for targeted advertising. Turning Marketing off does this for this site. Use the same email address for any privacy request.
Changes to this notice
If we change the tools we use or how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
